Random Acts of Kindness

We can never have too much kindness. And the great thing about it is that one act of kindness radiates from one person to another - like ripples on the water.

Kindness is contagious! So spread the kindness bug with these random acts of kindness you can do everyday.

Easy

  • Pay for the coffee, sandwich or bus fare of the person behind you.
  • Invite a new co-worker to lunch.
  • Send your boss an email about a co-worker's hard work.
  • Leave a nice note on someone's desk.
  • Compliment people in front of others.
  • Leave nice comments on blogs, Twitter and Facebook.
  • Let someone else have your seat on a crowded bus or train.
  • Offer a ride to someone.
  • Let the person who seems rushed cut in front of you.
  • Put a dollar on an expired meter.
  • Offer a homeless person a meal or coffee
  • Say yes when the cashier asks if you want to donate $1 to a cause.
  • Be super kind to the customer rep on the phone and praise them for their help
  • Offer to return a shopping trolley for someone loading groceries in their car.
  • Leave money for the vending machine for someone else.
  • Help a child or older person across the street.
  • Leave your waiter a generous tip.
  • Set out a lolly dish on your desk at work.
  • Hold the elevator for someone.
  • Leave 50c pieces at the laundromat.
  • Compliment a parent on how well-behaved their child is.

Medium

  • Email or write to a person who has made a difference in your life.
  • Set up a monthly donation to a charity you care about
  • Offer to babysit.
  • Donate used towels or blankets to an animal shelter.
  • Bake something and share it with a group
  • Cook a meal for a family with a new baby.
  • Do a friend's pile of laundry.
  • Email an inspiring blogger or journalist to thank them for making a difference.
  • Spend time with the elderly.
  • Surprise the office with donuts or cupcakes.
  • Hang out with the person who just moved to town.
  • Put sticky notes with words of encouragement on the mirrors in restrooms.
  • Wash someone's car.
  • Make two lunches and give one away.
  • Walk a neighbour's dog.

  • Send colouring books to sick kids in the hospital.
